Why are conservatives so anti-socialist and think socialism has "never worked"?

I've heard too many times that socialism has never worked and will never work, when in truth, some of today's most prosperous, non oil-based nations are based on socialist style governments. Sweden, Finland, South Korea, Australia. Even Germany despite its EU, which most liberals will admit has been a complete fail, affiliation.

Thoughts?

Update:

Hey, stupidity, both of those nations are in the EU. Independent socialism works.

Update 2:

Again, all of the nations being listed are EU affiliated.

Update 3:

Capitalism is an optimistic idea in a world dominated by evil and greed.

Update 4:

Jim Rooks that's what I am saying. Each system has it's advantages but people are often to conceited to integrate the two

Let's see. Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Ireland, and Iceland are all in debt crises. And Germany will get into a crisis sooner or later if they keep bailing countries out. The US will also experience a debt crisis soon.

For David: Then Central and South America. And just because they are EU affiliated does not mean that when their socialism fails, the country is not to blame. Its the EU and the individual countries' fault.

For David: I see you don't respond to my comments because I know what I am talking about and you are afraid to answer.

There are more countries that failed miserably for going the socialist route, none have lasted more than several decades. Its easy to prosper when their country's government only been around since WWII and the initial money to start their little government was given to you by the United States in the first place. Some still ask for our help.

it somewhat is not basically conservatives that do this... i don't evaluate socialism "anti-American" from now on than I evaluate French Fries "anti-American." Why I dislike Socialism is for the easy and straightforward certainty that it is not as efficient a governing form for our us of a. Socialist companies in a unfastened marketplace society have a place- like accepted healthcare and public coaching. If we grew to grow to be Socialist, we could finally end up like France. commencing a business enterprise or getting a job in France is a bureaucratic nightmare. 70% of your earnings is going to the government. If our final president is any indication as to the performance and competance of our government, i choose as few taxes going to it as possible. in certainty, i could guess to declare by applying trimming the already bloated (and mockingly vaguely communist) modern-day paperwork of america, shall we enforce those establishments AND cut back taxes. We basically ought to convince Washington D.C. to quit finding out to purchase $40,000 lavatory seats.

most of those nations you mention mix socialism with capitalism, and they are almost ALL liberty based systems, the ones that have failed did so because they weren't big enough to keep it going any longer, but they will soon have company from the rest of the EU, the Common Market and the United States

you forgot greece, spain, ireland etc.. they are huge debt. and we are too, thanks to obama. Plus those countries you mentioned dont have to deal with millions of illegal immigrants that you libs love so much.

man americans are so ignorant. they know nothing about what socialism is. If you love socialism so much then why dont you go to cuba and suck Fidel Castro's D*CK

Look at two completly different types of government: North and South Korea. North is socialist: their GDP is $28 billion. South is capitalist: their GDP is $1.163 Trillion

If you can think of an answer to that then i will assume you are mentally ill.

So i guess you are mentally ill. LOL

Looks like someones been listening to Fat Michael Moore too much.
