The tv needs to be of the same type of 3D as the blu ray player

What you need is a 3D HDTV and 3D Blu-Ray player to watch 3D Blu-Rays. You CAN"T just have one and NOT the other. When you buy the 3D HDTV, it will come with two pairs of 3D glasses.

Right now Panasonic, Samsung and Sony use the Active type 3D glasses, which has to be charged every so often. Also they cost more to get, when you need to get extra ones. They DO NOT work with each other's 3D HDTV, because the frequency of the 3D glasses are different. Now LG's 3D glasses are cheaper and it is the Passive type. It does NOT need to be recharged, also they are the same as the theater ones with the words Real D written on the side.I have NOT found any info online does the LG 3D glasses work with any Panasonic, Samsung and Sony 3D HDTV. That you'll have to ask store worker or a home theater experts.

    Hope that helps

No, you'd need to buy a 3D TV.You need a HDTV player software,I suggest you can use BlazeVideo HDTV Player. It can meet the demand of you. This HDTV Player is not only designed for Digital TV but also for Analog TV. Both all available Digital TV and Analog TV channels can be scanned by BlazeDTV HDTV Player. It will be the best choose.

No, you'd need to buy a 3D TV (since you don't have a TV, I don't understand how you would even decide which kind of 3D glasses to buy).

    EDIT:

I realize that, I meant you don't have a 3D TV. The glasses are aligned with the TV (some are passive and some are active), so I don't see why they would be expected to work with a non-3D TV.
