The closest parallel that I can think of was Anna Kournikova never winning a singles tennis tournament, although she won several in doubles, and was world #1 for a while.

No. People usually like winners and Junior does not win very often. Even Tiger Woods won his last golf tournament and promises to win more next year, but the same can't be said about Junior. I am not a fan of his unlike 90% of my friends, but I do not understand his mass appeal. His dad was nowhere nearly as popular as he is and many of his younger fans don't even remember his dad, so that is not it contrary to popular opinion. Dale Senior only was popular driver once and that was in 2001 the year he was killed.

Most sports are different. I don't watch stuff other than racin' (NASCAR, Indy 500 and I would watch an F1 race if my dad turned the TV on). I used to watch football, basketball and skatin' as a little kid, but I prefered racin' and when I came back to watchin' it this year, as we couldn't watch it after CBS and ABC no longer covered it 'cause we couldn't git FOX until fall 2010, I was disoriented by the changes the first month. I hadn't watched the others in long time either and decided since they weren't my favorites, they weren't worth the disorientation. I do know about Tebow 'cause he has a NASCAR analogue :-D and I have a Facebook friend who is a Tebow fan. He is unconventional, but in sports like football they focus more on the teams in regard to wins. Like they say the Broncos won the game or any other team name ya prefer.

Don't label me a Jr fan, because I'm not. But people forget how many races he's won. He almost won the championship in 2004. He was very good when he became popular and fans aren't going to drop their favorites because of a bad few seasons. Hell, I 've been a Redskins fan for 20 years. One thing for certain in my life is that the Redskins are gonna suck.

Wow, another lame quip about Jr. and his fans. You know full well that you will find no creditable source proclaiming Jr. as the best driver in NASCAR nor will you find a fan, that is not delusional, to proclaim the same. What you will find is an ardent group of fans that support their driver even in the presence of less than spectacular performances. It is people such as your self that are apparently butt hurt that your driver, perhaps the 18, does not receive the same admiration that dwell on those proclamations however inaccurate they may be.

In racing no. When the race car driver does not produce results he is fired. NASCAR is the exception.

Tim Tebow? I can't exactly see him winning a Superbowl.

Ease up guys. I love Tebow as much as the next guy, I just don't think he has the tools to win the big dance.

I'm not really into sports. I only like NASCAR and the NHRA, and maybe some off-roading, BMX, or mountain biking. Besides, that statement not being the truth, it's irrelevant and useless information.

Ask the people who VOTED for him. Don't complain if you didn't vote. Plain and simple.

Only reason many people watch golf is to watch Tiger Woods... And he has had a pretty rough couple years.
