What causes rapid-rise yeast to rise?

Why does rapid-rise yeast cause bread to rise quicker than active dry yeast? I've been looking it up and it apparently has something to do with the fact that rapid-rise yeast has less moisture than active dry yeast, but I don't get what that does. Answers would be appreciated :)

    The smaller amount of moisture in the rapid-rise yeast means more yeast is used. The dough rises faster because it contains more yeast. You can obtain the same results with traditional dry yeast if you add a teaspoon more than called for (usually 2 1/4 tsps., or one package active dry yeast).

    Not 100% sure...I know dough with yeast in it can expand in the warmth of the dog's stomach and cause some serious problems. Definately head into a vet.
