Math homework question?
Any help on how to do this question would be appreciated. I've been trying to work it out but am having trouble with the algebra.
You are a quality control technician in a dairy plant. During routine testing, you discover that the batch of "half and half" cream in the holding tank has a milk fat content of 9%. If the standard for milk fat in this product is 10%, how much 40% milk fat cream must be added to bring the "half and half" cream in the tank to 10% milk fat? There is 5000kg of 9% milk fat cream currently in the tank.
Thanks in advance!
1 AnswerMathematics7 years agoChemistry question involving delta U?
I'm getting desperate, my chemistry midterm is tomorrow and I can't even figure out the simplest questions! This is one of the questions I'm having trouble with.
When 2.00 kJ of energy is transferred as heat to nitrogen in a cylinder fitted with a piston at an external pressure of 2.00 atm, the nitrogen gas expands from 2.00 to 5.00L against this constant perssure. What is delta U (internal energy) for the process?
The answer is +1.39 kJ but I keep getting 1.78 kJ. If anyone could explain how to do the question, that would be very much appreciated.

I live fairly far away and taking a taxi would cost me half my shift money and I do not have a car that I can take. Buses don't run at that time. How do the managers expect me to get home? I"m just wondering. By the way I am an 18 year old female.

5 AnswersMarketing & Sales9 years agoWhy are longer alcohol chains less reactive?
When sodium was added to octanol, the reaction was more slow than when sodium was added to methanol. Why is the longer one less reactive? Actually I have another question to if anyone knows. Why does sodium react better with water than with methanol? Help would be appreciated. I've been looking in my textbook and on the internet and haven't really found much.

2 AnswersChemistry9 years agoReaction between calcium hydroxide and bleach?
I'm not sure if this is right at all. The reaction is between calcium hydroxide: Ca(OH)2 and bleach: NaOCl. This is what I have:
Ca(OH)2 + 2NaOCl ------> Ca(OCl)2 + 2NaOH.
Does anyone know if this is right or not?
Thanks in advance.
2 AnswersChemistry9 years agoHelp with a chemical equation? Subscripts?
I have to write the equation for the displacement of lead from a saturated solution of lead (II) chloride using zinc. This is what I think it is:
Zn + PbCl2 >>> ZnCl2 + Pb
Is that right? I'm not sure what the subscripts are though. Does anyone know what the balanced equation would be, including subscripts?

1 AnswerChemistry9 years agoNet ionic equations help?
I took chemistry last year and I'm taking it again in grade 12, but I'm a little foggy in some parts. I forget exactly what to do for net ionic equations. I know I have to separate the aqueous ones into their individual parts but I think I'm doing something wrong because I can't seem to get an answer that makes sense (they keep cancelling each other out leaving me with no product) How would you do this net ionic equation. I balanced it already, hopefully it's right:
3CuCl₂ (aq) + (NH₄)₃PO₄(aq) → 6NH₄Cl(aq) + Cu₃(PO₄)₂(s)
2 AnswersChemistry9 years agoDo you agree with genetically modified foods?
I'm doing a paper on GM foods and it's kind of difficult for me to choose a side: for or against. I think that genetic modification is beneficial because it allows more food to be grown and can benefit places that have poor growing conditions such as drought. At the same time, I think GM foods are bad because nobody is really sure the impact they will have on the environment in the long run. Any opinions or ideas?

There are two programs that I'm interested in taking at York University in Toronto. One is Professional Writing and the other is English and Professional Writing. 3 AnswersMilitary9 years agoWhat causes rapid-rise yeast to rise?
Why does rapid-rise yeast cause bread to rise quicker than active dry yeast? I've been looking it up and it apparently has something to do with the fact that rapid-rise yeast has less moisture than active dry yeast, but I don't get what that does. Answers would be appreciated :)
2 AnswersBotany9 years agoBeauty ideals in different cultures?
I'm doing a project for school about beauty ideals in different cultures, and I was wondering if anyone knew some. I know in Canada and the US, being skinny is the ideal while in Africa women with curves and flesh are the picture of ideal beauty. What about other countries? Germany, Australia, Mexico? I've been trying to find some info online, but haven't found much, surprisingly.
3 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups10 years agoI need some help on grade 12 math?
Okay, so I know the answer because it's in the back of my textbook, but I keep getting a different answer. I just need help on how to do it.
A bacteria culture starts with 3000 bacteria and grows to a population of 12000 after 3 hours.
a) Find the doubling period (I did this and got the right answer: 1.5 hours)
b) Determine the number of bacteria after 8 hours
c) Determine the number of bacteria after 1 hour
The equation used to figure these questions out is: M=c(2)^t/D where M is the total amount, c is the initial amount, 2 is the growth factor, t is the time, and D is the doubling period.
So, I plugged in the known amounts to the equation: M=3000(2)^8/1.5 I think this is right, but I keep getting the wrong answer. The answer is 120 952 by the way. Does anyone know how to do these questions? Did you get the right answer, and if so how did you do it?
Thanks!

11 AnswersMovies10 years agoWhat did you think of Harry Potter 7 Part 2?
I liked it, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed in some parts. Like Ron and Hermione's kiss, I wasn't really satisfied with. And I really hated how Harry didn't fix his wand with the elder wand...it would have taken two seconds! And the whole Harry and Voldemort final duel seemed kind of anti climatic or something. And I didn't like how Voldemort's body broke into pieces...I think it would have made a better statement if his body stayed and he just fell down dead. Like, he was just a man and now he is dead. But overall it was a good movie. I loved the part with Snape's memories. I cried a few times when certain people died (don't want to spoil anything). So what did everyone else think of the movie? Did it do the book justice?
5 AnswersMovies10 years agoI haven't had my period in 7 months?
I'm 17 and I haven't had my period for at least 7 months. I know I'm not pregnant because I've never been sexually active. Is it bad not to get your period for this long? I don't think I'm underweight, I weigh 120 pounds and am 5 feet 6 inches. I haven't talked to anybody about it because I guess I'm kind of embarrassed. Will not getting a regular period affect my ability to get pregnant later on? What should I do?
