Eddy makes good masks but they are sized in a very weird way. Don't go by the chart Eddy gives you which makes it appear that they fit a very large head. You have to try them on or speak with a knowledgable dealer.
Goaliemonkey has the Bauer 9600 for $600 right now, down from about $1,000. It's worth considering too.

They also have an Eddy section for comparison.

They have the Reebok 9K for $460, down from $950

I looked around for you to answer your question. One thing it seems to lack it side of the head protection and nowadays, goalie masks have an air bladder so you can blow it up and make it fit perfectly to your head. Now dependng on what level you play at, it could be a very important piece. Without the bladder to keep your head from moving in the mask too much, when you get hit with a decent shot in the head, it will leave your ears ringing and noone likes tht. I wear a ProMasque and i swear by them. there generally around $500-$900 ( about the same as eddy). Promasque was developed by NHL goalie Dwayne Roloson because he was having ear ringing issues as well. So if i were you id look more at Promasque because it has a bit better quality and the inside is custom fitted as you grow, because you can adjust it. I am privately taught by Boston Bruins Goalie coach brian daccord who brings in people like Brian Boyle of the NY Rangers and NCAA D-1 kids from BU,UNH etc. and ive never had an issue yet. Solid mask all around. Let me know what you decide. Just helping fellow tendies out.

Well, it is a very large brand that makes many different helmets at all levels. Their masks are fiberglass, which gives them okay protection, but they are quite heavy. The lower level masks will be made with fewer layers of fiberglass and with less precision, so they won't be as protective as the higher ones.
