Supermarket Trolley Damaged My Car On a Windy Day, Can I Claim?

Today I was returning to my car in a supermarket car park, it was quite stormy. I observed a trolley drifting past my car, being propelled by the wind, I drove away thinking nothing of it, but later on I noticed that there was a big dent in my offside wing. It will cost £200 to fix it, am I wasting my time trying to get Sainsbury's to pay for it? Has anyone else suffered the same fate?

Yes, in my opinion you would be wasting your time but according to my wife I have been wrong before. Ask the supermarket for reimbursement and see what happens.

I doubt it. At least here in the US the stores are not respsonsible for their carts (trolleys) usually signs are posted. Especially that weather is "an act of God" its something that cannot be controlled. Most stores here provide a cart return corral for the carts but many times people just leave them whereever.

    sorry your car got damaged
