When you get to training they will do paperwork to set up your finances. You will be paid via direct deposit. If you do not have your account info, they will set you up with a bank that has a contract with the military (guaranteed approval for checking/savings, even for those with credit problems.)

But, access to the account is rather inconvenient while in your basic training. Get all of your bank info written on a small card and keep it in your wallet (acct #, routing number, etc.) This way you can set your paycheck to go into an account that's already set up. You should laminate the card, as well. Check with your bank to find out what info is needed to set up direct deposit.

DO NOT set up auto bill pay!! If your pay doesn't kick in at the right time, you will get bounced checks and NSF fees. Have a family member who you trust handle your online bills while you are at basic.

    Good luck to you.

It will depend on the Branch. If you are Army or Air Force you might get it April 1st but if that does happen there will be a deduction of up to $300 for necessities you purchased with the Eagle Card. It will be most likely April 15th but it is backdated to the date you started. If you are Navy then the first pay at the earliest will be April 15th but more along the lines of May 1st. For the Marines they do it completely differently and you will have to set up a new bank account there and the pay is not accessible.

Generally it takes about 6 weeks to get that first check. it can take as long as 8 weeks.

So you'd be looking at May 1st or May 15th.
