what are some tips for improving writing?

I used to be really into writing but then I didn't care for it so much and recently I've been getting into it again. I really want to write but I can't think of anything to write and then when I do think of something good all of a sudden it won't seem as good anymore. If you have any tips on writing please share them

Update:

@someguy no thanks... my body and drugs don't go together too well...

oK I'm a writer, and I had an idea that has really helped me develop plots and stories (by the sound of your question you struggle more with story lines and interesting ideas than stylistic techniques I suppose?)...

Take some paper (index cards if you have any) and make small blank cards.

Have about 30 to start with.

Divide them equally into three groups.

In one group of cards, write on each card a random setting. Don't worry about anything, just write the first things you think of. Examples: Grocery Store, Cave, School, Soccer Stadium, Airport, etc.

In a second group, write very random different types of characters. Examples: Detective, Singer, Baby, The Pope, Obese Kid, etc.

On each of the third set, write a simple conflict. This takes more thought. Examples: Divorce, Locked Out, Layed Off, Lost, Running Away, etc.

Sort all 3 groups into 3 different small bags or envelops (or anything similar you have on your hands) and label group 1 "Setting" group 2 "Characters" and group 3 "Conflicts".

Mix them up and draw 1 from each bag.

Know this might sound elementary because you could end up with a very childish ridiculous mix like: Grocery Store, The Pope, and Running away. Don't automatically think of an obvious story like the pope ran away to the grocery store (keep in mind this is just a silly, random example I'm using). Be creative, and even if your stories seem silly and childish, you will develop greater skills for coming up with plots and won't even need these cards after a while if you practice with these somewhat ready made plots. And besides, if you think outside the box, you would be able to write a story incorporating, say a grocery store the pope and running away into a masterpiece. So just practice with these silly cards, it helped me tons!!! (Sorry for the super long answer, hope it helps!)

Verbs are your peers. So are adverbs. My English trainer in top college had a "recreation" to play each time you are at loss for a verb. Think of a attorney, for illustration. What do legal professionals do? They guard, prosecute, assault, factor out, and so forth. How lots of the ones verbs can be utilized in different occasions? Just suppose of an extra trouble than you are describing and also you will have to get a few bigger recommendations for verbs. Some men and women do not like adverbs, however I suppose that once used competently they upload to a tale by means of telling the reader HOW whatever is finished, which creates a extra entire intellectual snapshot.

  • if ur lazy in writing. and more preference to keyboard.

    then ull never improve. :).

to improve. u need to write more and more and more. till u get used to it. then eventually adjust ur style for improvement.

but honestly. the basic office style. little italic style. is most recognized everywhere. so learn that. its easy.

    cheers.
