screen goes crazy when playing games?
I have a good computer and up until recently i have never had problems even close to this.
So when i start playing games that require much computer power, the screen sometimes start shaking. and if it requires to much it suddenly just goes poof and the entire screen is just a big mess of colors.
or horizontal lines with color between.
wtf is going on man. might it be my screen is just too old?

Sounded from your description you are a computer buyer and don't much about computer. I will try to be brief and simplistic so that you can acquire the solution.
Lack of your hardware info and game you tried it on. I can't tell you specific driver to load. However first you should load newer version of DirectX newer graphic cards takes DirectX 10 and 11 integrated. Just hit microsoft and find one. Free
Step 2 Update your graphic card driver.
What's my graphic card model and make that's up to you to find out I can't tell you that without you letting me know. You can find that by Start then click run type dxdiag or simply type on search bar on windows Vista/7. No you don't need to run admin rights on this. Info you need will be in the Graphic card tab look for your model then download from their official site. Two major card supplier either ATI or Geforce. ATI www.amd.com Geforce www.nvidia.com
If that don't fix it you could have a bad graphic card or just a buggy game. Games like Skyrim especially Rage are just buggy. Even with newest GTX 590 you are gonna have problems. LCD monitor broken or too old I doubt that. They last forever. (5ms response time is enough to run most graphical games.)
