Help with installing wireless driver to portable PC?

I have an older model Jornada 540 handheld PC. I know how to synchronize it with my laptop. It's not WIFI ready. I purchased one of those wireless CF cards. It's 11Mbps 802.11b. I have one of those software CD's that has the wireless LAN drivers on it to install to the portable PC. I tried installing it but I'm lost. Anyone knows how to install the drivers from the CD to the portable PC? Thank you!

My first recomendation? take that PCM-CIA 802.11b card and drop into whatever trashcan is nearest to you.

You can go on ebay and buy a working user or new 802.11g or 802.11n card for <$10

a "g" card will increase the speed by a factor of 5.

an "n" card, presuming that you have a wireless router that is N capable

will increase speed by more than 10 times.

Now for sticking (atleast temporarily) with that "B" card the easiest way to get the

driver installed and working requires availability of a wired network connection...

Connect to a wired connection and go to windows updates (Start button on the desktop and select "all programs", it's on the list) look at "hardware updates" and windows updates typically will offer you the driver.

Let windows updates run it... they work very hard to make things simple for you... LET THEM!
