How can you tell an old state of Alabama flag from a Confederate flag?
I have a very large old cotton flag that looks like the Alabama state flag. But is there any way to tell if it is actually an old Confederate flag, such as a marine signal flag with the same design?

1. The Alabama flag is white with a red cross and no stars.
2. The Confederate Battle flag was square. It was red with a blue cross and 13 stars.
3. What is usually called a Confederate flag, a rectangular version of the battle flag, was actually a navy jack, although a few army used it.
