Can anyone identify this scotch whisky?

I was at my my wife's company holiday party and I got in good with the owner of the company. I schmoozed so well I had the guy fetching me glasses of his private reserve that they kept behind the open bar, available only to him. This scotch is a single malt and comes in a wood box with a medallion on it. You turn the medallion to open the box. I forgot to ask this guy about it while we were talking. I've heard that this scotch is from the 1880s, 1860s, or as old as 1818 from my wife's coworkers. It could be from 1996, for all I know. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Thanks for the help.

Update:

The Hedonism box doesn't look like what I described. There is no medallion at all.

"Compass Box Hedonism Maximus Scotch Whisky"

Take a step into a richer and deeper Hedonism in the limited edition Hedonism Maximus. This blend of a 42 year old Invergordon whisky and a 29 year old from Scotland's oldest continuously operating distillery, Cameron Bridge, is the shining light of Compass Box's portfolio and is simply a stunning Scotch. This extra-old version of the popular Hedonism has all of the same aspects, but in an intensified form, with notes of caramel, burnt toffee, vanilla and coconut making an appearance. Unfortunately for Scotch lovers, this beauty is an extremely limited release with just 1500 bottles available and only 600 of those will reach the United States.

    46% alc/volume (92 proof)

    Vatted Grain Scotch

Retails for around $300/750 ml bottle

    Released in October 2008
