She is generation Y (people born 1980ish) pop star, a form of a Tiffany, Cyndi Lauper, or even at times Madonna. I think she is innovative, no matter what she goes through personally, she makes amazing dance/pop albums, I think that are better than Katy Perry, whom I find a little annoying (sorry!). I grew up with Britney Spears, when I was 11 she came out with her first album, it was corny and risque, but you know it was great. She wasn't a bad influence despite what others say, she knows what the people want to hear in the club and she knows how to bring it. Yes, she doesn't have the greatest voice, but she has a great backing track and great tongue/cheek lyrics. She is a very profitable performer, and people will pay just to see her do whatever she does. I think she is great because she always is ahead of everyone else, and she is modest about it, which is a big plus. A pop culture icon for people in their 20s... :)

I think we've seen her grow up, get in a mess, make a comeback. I don't like her music that much, I know her more for her personal life. But I can identify with some things she has gone through. It takes a lot to come back from where she was, I hope she can maintain her progress.

Only 2 songs of her I ever liked - she's no longer relevant in the music industry as far as I'm concerned. I wish her luck for her personal problems but feel her glory days are well and truly over.

I think she has become such an icon because we remember her in her Oops I did it Again days when the world fell in love with her charm, we saw her downfall days(shaving head, dark hair etc) and now we witnessed her comeback. She is a hard worker and talented, even though she isn't my favorite singer. She has mad a comeback from those dark days and is thus iconic.
