What would happen if there was a complete collapse of society?

I mean if there was no law and order, a complete meltdown of the economic situation, no gas, no electricity, no piped water, no sewage system, no food production.

What would happen to the densely populated areas of the North East or Europe, how many people would die and in what time frame. How many people could survive with the resources available? What would be the biggest killer, disease, famine or marauding gangs killing for a candy bar? I guess the population would stabilise after a while but at what level and after how long? What would society look like after the population stabilised?

what you are describing is civil war, a class war between the have not's and the rich who control the government. Our civilian population is well armed with hundreds of thousands of ex military. I'm sure the military has a contingency plan in place for such a scenario..When some thing like this happens it is a terrible thing. But it has happened all over the world many times and will continue to do so for many reasons. If food riots should start in the larger cities, head for the remote areas till things quiet down and order is restored. Life will go on!
