Should i put my dog down?
My dog is 6 years old. She has diabetes, overweight, blind, and her health has its ups and downs. My mom cannot afford the insulin. I have a part time job and could pay for it but it would be the majority of my pay check. I love my dog. But i also don't know if she is even happy. I don't know what to do.

If you can't afford to keep up with her health problems, think about whether or not that would cause her pain or suffering, or would make her unhappy. Even if you can't tell by how she's acting, try to put yourself in her shoes. If you feel she would be suffering, it may be the nicest thing to put her down, as sad as it is.
You'll know what's right. Trust yourself. Trust your dog.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO she has been there for you no matter what now deal with her health problem's she deserves this much from you the owner. Talk to her vet work out a payment plan to afford her meds to help her live,Shes happy just because she became blind doesn't mean she is sad she still can hear you she can still smell you and feel your touch so YES she is still happy she will adapt to her blindness but you will also have to help her when she is out of her home or yard so she doesn't wander into harm or another dog attacks her, She has a full life ahead of her and many memories for you, Don't put her down If get strapped for meds ask family or grand parents to help you care for your best friend and buddy.

Get the weight off her, it'll help with the diabetes as well. Walk her on leash.
Discuss with the vet about this, they can possibly switch the insulin to a lower cost one. I'd also say join up with a diabetic dog list over on YahooGroups. The owners there have dogs with the same condition, they can advise you.

You shouldn't put your dog down unless it is in excruciating pain. If you can not afford a dog I suggest selling it to someone you know that will take good care of her! Poor dog.

If you love your dog, then the majority of your paycheck shouldn't matter. But I would consult the vet as to her quality of her life and take it from there. I had to make the decision a few weeks ago, my baby girl was 10, but she had lung tumors and her quality of life was gone.

What breed is your dog? 6 is not very old for a lot of breeds. Please consider giving her up to a no kill shelter or rescue who might find her a home willing to pay for the care she needs before even thinking about euthanasia!
