Does piercings make people seem unapproachable? Scary?
There's a guy that told me that I look unapproachable if you didn't know me :S
I have 3 lip piercings on my bottom lip, both sides of my nose and my septum done on my face.
I don't think it looks too much, seeing as they aren't so big or anything.
Would you find this unapproachable or scary? :S x

Personally, no, I have 12 piercings and aspiring to get more - so addictive!
But i know where this guy is coming from, it can send a negative impression because
tattoos, piercings etc all automatically overwhelm people because they can be intimidating.
It is a bit scary because it's not the "norm", and people aren't used to it.
What works for me is having open body language and a smile, that means people instantly
see that you are approachable because your actions are inviting and they then don't bother
with your image.
Good luck!

I once talked to a guy with no nose. It had been cut off. I will spare you the details of what his face was like. It was something that still makes me wince - and that was 40 years ago.
Disgusting is the correct word. Not unapproachable - I could approach you if I had to.
Certainly not scary - more like sad that anybody has such a poor body image that they have to indulge in self mutilation.
Striking up a conversation with someone who has self mutilated themselves is not something I would prefer to do. Being deformed just reduces the probability of interaction. ALthough some people will be attracted to it. One reason, beside the distaste, is my fear of being rude by staring. Similarly, but for just the opposite of aversion, striking up a conversation with a topless woman would not be something I would tend to do. Although in that case, I can see making an effort...

It depends on people's opinion and what they are used to! The number of piercings you have, is just not seen often, so it may come as surprising which makes people believe you are unapproachable. However if your piercings are subtle and not big, they shouldn't be that bad. Besides, people shouldn't judge just on a few piercings on your face, they should decide on your personality :)
