What is this hole in my oven for?
Underneath the back left burner of my electric stove/oven there's a 2 inch diameter tube that just goes straight into the oven. What is this for and would it be bad to cover it? It seems like it'd save electricity to keep all the heat in instead of letting some out constantly.

It's a vent for your oven. Do NOT block it. When you burn something you will notice the smoke comes from there FIRST. Every one of the units have a vent on them there normal. I have the glass top and was wondering where the vent was, found it when i burned my dinner one day....

It's a moisture vent if you had it closed the modifier builds up in the oven if enough it could push the door open to vent the expanded moisture in the air and also without it the heatin elements and or oven can rust
