How do I add an operating system to my mac?

I was wondering if anyone knew of an online tutorial on how to install OS Lion over Snow Leopard. I would like to be able to boot my computer under either operating system, if there is a way to switch between the two versions without having to power down, that would be fantastic. Thank you in advance! :)
