Why haven't we tried to get our drone back?

We should go over there and destroy it.

Oooh -- Goodie! Let's launch ANOTHER MIDEAST WAR!

Whoopee! The war in Iraq was fun -- cost the lives of several thousand US soldiers, but it was FUN!

And it was so CHEAP too -- only cost the US taxpayers about $1 trillion.

So now that the Iraq war is over, why not have MORE fun -- and start a brand new war with Iran?

Yum, yum, yum. Maybe you can even be lucky enough to fight in it, Justin, and you show how brave you are, and mabye you won't come home with half a brain after your tour of duty because of an IED exploding under your army vehicle.

Or maybe you will be permanently disabled in an IED attack, after all, and you'll suffer from PTSD for 20 years later and beat up your wife or your girlfriend because of it -- but hey, you'll be a MILITARY HERO!

    FUN FUN FUN!

    WAR WAR WAR!

    ============================

Because that's what you're talking about, isn't it?

The Iranians have captured our drone, we "need" to get it back, they hate us and won't give it back voluntarily, and so you want Obama to launch a new war to recapture it?

I think that's a bit short-sighted, as you may have guessed from what I've written.

But I think the idea of bravely launched a destructive war over a lost spy plane is the kind of military fantasy that appeals a lot to many teenage boys. Especially teenaged boys who watch a lot of TV programs and movies where brave heroes walk into these kinds of battles.

I was a teenaged boy myself once, and I know I loved the idea of fighting & kililng for glory -- at least so long as I didn't actually have to do it.

I wonder if you're the same.

To answer your question, the "reason" we haven't gotten the drone back is that we probably can't do this without running the risk of launching a big war with Iran, and Iran is not a military pushover, and a lot of sober minded men in the Pentagon and State Dept. know this.

We slipped up, we're kind of stuck now, and we're just going to lose the drone & see the technology copied by the Chinese. These things happen to virtually all governments at times. We just have to deal with it as best we can. But if we launch a major war over this that our government can't really afford to fight, that would be pretty stupid.

For one thing - suppose we send a military force over there to recapture or destroy the drone. the mission succeeds, but a war with Iran begins because of it.

The US, being a huge military power, eventually prevails against the Iranians, although the Iranians have oil wealth and fancy weapons systems, so the fighting goes on for awhile.

What do you think the Chinese are going to be doing in the meantime, as the US military and the Iranian military have at one another?

You're clearly worried about the military implications of the drone falling into Chinese hands, right?

Well, if the US gets involved in yet another war just after we end the war in Iraq, and while we're still fighting in Afghanistan -- do you think the Chinese won't take advantage of our being overly committed, and distracted?

When bush asked China if we could get our spy (reconnaissance) plane back they sent it back in pieces, without the strategically important pieces.

History has a way of repeating it's self.

Retarded politics, we don't want to start a war, and apparently Obama doesn't understand how to negotiate. He should just send Pulp Fiction era Samuel L. Jackson over there to get it back.

well obama asked them "can we have it back?" ROFL

Oh yeah, can you just see the iranians saying "oh SURE, you can have it back, here you go"

    What a DA
