How do you view the attitude of English TV Channels totally boycotting South Indian Issues?

The so called Indian National Channels like NDTV, TIMES NOW, HEADLINES, CNN, etc are giving so importance to all sundry issues pertaining to North India (example: re-instatement of Pension to Ex DGP Rathore of Ruchika's case) but never open their mouth on the on-going agitation by the people of Theni District on Mullai Periyaar Dam or by the villagers on Koodankulam project.

If there is no North Indian news, then they go after Anna Hazare & his group or after Rahul Gandhi & Mayawati.

May I know your valued opinions on this ???

Update:

@@MS Saheb::-- I appreciate TIMES NOW for its "minutes"review on Southern Issues but what about others? I am a regular watcher of not only Times Now, but also Aaj Tak,Headlines. CNN, NDTV 24x7, and what not.

Please do not blame Y/A for lack of space. If you want you can reply in detail by squeesing the spaces in between the sources(I know you are an expert over this technology).

Update 2:

@@Radhakrishnaji, Sir, The state of affairs of only Tamil sign boards wre at the time of erstwhile Madras State and not now. The sign boards in buses are in Tamil as well as in English.

Now come to A.P. In Hyderabad city itself, I have my own experience to find a city bus to Kachiguda for more than one hour from the Secunderabad Station, as all buses have only Telugu sign boards.

In Kerala, it is not better to speak.

In Orissa also I find the same situation.

But I agree with Mumbaites, as they are "generous" like Chennaites to reflect the "two"languages formula.

In Bangalore also the same situation. And in the interior Karnataka, it is even worst.

Update 3:

@@MS Saheb:::-- Promoting regionalism??? I am asking why these so called National Channels promoting regionalism and I wonder why you reversed this question towards me ? You answer it. Why they promote regionalism by only giving importance to North Indian news.

Please read the answer of Incredible Indian, who is right that these channels "neglect" those states also.

However they neglect our region too, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Jharkhand etc. unless a naxalite attack happen.

edit: OMG !!! this place is getting worse. I want to add here few more things. I don't blame these news channels for giving priorities to certain states. See, the news channels based in Delhi report the news from the local perspective. That's why their contents have more news from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, kashmir etc. while the news channels based in Mumbai e.g. star news and CNN-IBN often report more from the Maharashtra politics even though these all news contents are not matter of my interest since I live in Chhattisgarh. So. it's not like these news channels neglect South or East India. They simply prioritize the news contents from the local perspective.

Similarly an English language channel like "NDTV Hindu" based in Chennai is expected to have more local contents in their news. It's obvious. It;s not a matter of neglecting.

Anyway I watch Zee Chhattisgarh and some other local channels for local news and all rest Hindi and English news channels for national news.

PS- I have seen NDTV India (Hindi news channel) reporting the Dam issue between TN and Kerala. Though the length of the news was short for the mentioned reason.

edit again: Nandi sir, My ancestral place is in Orissa and I often visit there. As I don't speak Oriya correctly I prefer to talk in Hindi with the local shopkeepers. The local shops, buses, Railways stations etc have the signboards in both Oriya and English and Sometimes only in English. Almost everyone even a street beggar can speak Hindi too apart from Oriya. I hope you won't have any problem during your next visit in Orissa :)

Strictly speaking, they are not bothered about South Indian problems in general and Tamil Nadu in particular.Issues like Mullaiperiyaar have to be highlighted and expert opinion sought in this regard. That will help the people at large to understand the problems being faced by the people of Tamil Nadu in farming their land. This partisan attitude of the pro congress channels will in long run will give room for separation &fragmentation of the country.

The so called english channels have no principle. They look for cheap popularity and sensational news from North India to cover a large audience. TRP is the only thing on their mind nothing else. They report birthdays of dumb celluloids but not ready to discuss issues of national importance. Let us not give undue importance to those good for nothing channels all the time shouting like frogs!

This is called mediocre and sub-standard journalism. They will pounce on the matter only when a civil war breaks out...or the dam breaks..which unfortunately i think we are heading towards... Moreover...tv media get their bellies filled by smear campaign against popular politicians...and not such real issues.... I also dont think...someone like Manmohan Singh has the balls or guts to take a firm decision on the Mullaperiyar matter. Now just look at how irresponsibly Chidambaram crapped from his mouth...Everybody wants vote and support of their own people. It is also unfortunate...that people and politicians do not realize...the stakes involved...if there is some kind of a civil unrest in South...it is enough...to spark a nationwide unrest on different local issues....and this in my opinion will be a perfect example of how a democracy which works like a patriarchal system and an eyewash for the mass... fails....

Very true. When i want to see the English news about the dam. They are always discussing the anna issue and other parliament issue. The dam issue is very rare.

In Tamil news, they support the TN side,

In Kerala, they support the Kerala.

But, to see the neutral news, we have to see English news only. But, they are always talking about the northern issues.

But, i saw many videos in YouTube from the news channels.

In Raj TV and sun news, they are brainwashing and telling that Kerala has stated that "we will not give water to TN"

But, Kerala has said that the new dam will be built and the same amount of water and electricity can be taken. So only English news channels are reliable.

Source(s): see these videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KOUUdMpjSw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vSw2sruPIA the above video is part 1. But there are totally 6 parts from the same user. see all the videos. There is also a debate between the 2 state representatives. According to me, the dam is strong enough.

I too agree with. They are hindi based people. They may think they are populated more.

But in Raja,s case for full day and full for a week they were showing inch by inch.

But no one can say in tamil channels, they showed that happenings.

Yeah its very true and i feel North is biased. Too much. I study in a institute where i have many tamil and telgu frnds. They tell me about boycott, chaos, bus suspension, schools closed. I had that thing on my mind. When i came to my home in Jharkhand. There's only Anna in the news. Then i saw my friend's status on facebook about boycott. Then after i concluded that something is really going on.

India is tearing itself apart only becuase of some greedy, selfish, biased, narrow minded political leaders and people in high posts. I guess Independence Day has nothing to with present situation. General India is not developing, its still underdeveloped. Those who were born poor have continued to born poor, even poorer. And rich are richer now. And there is trade of Indians settling in foreign countries. Its because India doesn't provide such oppurtiunities. And people are always fighting. I am planning to leave India too.

  • friend,

National Integrity, TRI BHAASHAA COMMITTEE , national ATTITUDE ...all are FARCE NOW A DAYS.

There may be one in a million who is a true nationalist, Impartial and wishing all INDIA shall be well.

Now each State is a DIWAANAM.( A territory with its own laws ).

In some answer you commented in Karnataka people are speaking only Kannada and are not helping a stranger.

As far as I know IT IS THE MOST FRIENDLY STATE.People give maximum respect and HELP YOU EVEN SPARING THEIR TIME.They are Polite,It is my personal experience over the years.

But in CHENNAi, all buses carry Name Boards (destination or from-to) Boards ONLY IN TAMIL.

    NO HINDI , NO ENGLISH.

Being a graduate , ihad to ask the one near by where the BUS goes in English as I do not Tamil. That man replied only in Tamil.I asked several people , all speak Tamil only. Why?

Why don`t they write Boards in English and Hindi?

Why Hindi News are not Broadcasting and at that time Tamil news are Broadcasting please?

I have not seen other states , SO I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THEM.

    Is this National integrity?

See in A,P. You find names in all the THREE LANGUAGES.

    People reply in English.

The days of national integrity and thinking about Nation as a Whole have Gone. Personal politics , regional parties, small time gains are order of the day.

We hear SIMPY LECTURES .When it comes to Practice...................we have to SEARCH.

Similarly all news {papers all news Channels they are Biased to Some extent towards some side.

Sorry if my comments hurted any one.I may be excused .I never meany to hurt any one.

Edit: So you are punishing me to expose your biased attitude against states from north India? OK am ready to take this responsibility to expose you further. I don't think in your question you had ever mentioned that you are NOT talking about one channel but others ... Now may be these channels will also be in your exception list:

    ibnlive.in.com/news/chandy-writes-to-jaya-on-mullaperiyar-row/213037-62-128.html

Are these enough or you need more to expose you? Why don't you accept your biased question is intended to encourage regionalism?

Edit again and last one: You said English Media does not telecast news from Southern State, I presented you just a few news from 3 national news channel that have been covering all the southern Indian, if you don't understand that much and ask me "Why they promote regionalism by only giving importance to North Indian news." what do I tell you? You don't accept the facts and keep repeating your lies even god cannot help you forget about this "god a bandaa". Looks like your one point agenda is divide Indians on basis of regions and that is why you don't accept facts that are in front of you but continue to sing "song of lies".
