is belief in a religion a form of paranoia?

people who are paranoid seem to think people are watching them ,religious people think a god or angels are watchng them,they also believe some entity judges them and will place them accordingly in an afterlife

    No it's not a form of paranoia. It's something that is taught to them. The idea that God is watching is not paranoia if he's actually watching (according to their belief). I'm an atheist but I respect people's beliefs and religions and do not get overly upset if somebody rejects me because I'm an atheist. People are people and you have to sort through them to find the ones you can get along with.

    Spot on for everything after the comma! There are people of entities who we will meet on the other side after we cross over, but they are also more than our guides or guardian angels. They are out spiritual elders. Religion was created so that humans had someone or something to give them guidance in life. Only now religion plays a very little part in peoples day to day lives now. But I guess that is open to speculation and will vary between person to person. But I wouldn't say it is a form of paranoia.
