  • Do people actually believe advertising "10 Points!" in there question will lure more answers?

I mean really? We all know that best answers get 10 points... Does this actually lure more people in because we can get 10 points? It's no different then any other question.

Venting here, I just think it's a tad stupid.

  • Problem with a network card....?

Okay techies, try this one out:

Running 4 pcs on a network connected to a router (and then cable modem for internet)

I wiped and did a clean install on one of the computers (worked fine before, just have a new person starting so we wipe) XP Pro installed just fine and is up and running.

Trouble is, there is no network connectivity. Driver is good, just gives me the 169.x.x.x crap IP. Tested the line with a laptop, and the network line works just fine.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled the network card, reset all modems, routers, pc's etc, even redid the clean install. The status light on the router doesn't even light up when I plug this pc in now...

    So:

Is the card dead? How could I test it?

Why won't the stupid thing get a proper ip though dhcp? (router configured for ips 192.168.1.100 through 149)

I'm pulling my hair out here. Any ideas??

  • Whats with the low-fat food/diet craze?

I mean, really? If eating fat makes you fat, fine.

All of our food (well most) has been modified and all the nutritionists recommend low fat foods as healthy choices. If eating fat makes you fat, why are people still obese with all the low fat food available?

  • Pregnancy?

Why is it that women keep asking questions about their pregnancy/is it normal/should this be happening on Yahoo questions?

Do they not realized that probably less than 1/1000 people answering questions are not doctors or even have anything remotely related to medical education/training?

PLEASE GET TO A DOCTOR!!! THAT'S PROBABLY THE BEST PLACE TO LOOK FOR INFORMATION, NOT KIDS ANSWERING QUESTIONS ON YAHOO.

(I apologize for the rant there, but please do offer your thoughts)

What ever happened? There was the threat of the HUGE pandemic; Now where are we at?

  • Republicans vs Democrats?

I cannot believe what I read here.

Why is everyone so concerned with finding the 'lesser of evils?'

Why not take a step back and realize it's all a game, to keep people busy so they don't see the real problems that face all of us (ALL OF US, regardless of which political puppet party we like)

  • y r the questions like this?

What precisely happened to the English language? Where once grammatical form and proper construction stood, now a slang 'use written language any way you prefer' seems to dominate most written communication.

Is it just me, or are there other fine people that are frustrated by the lack of proper written language/overuse of slang?

  • Physics Word Problem?

Two train stations 300 km apart.

Train 1 leaves station A and travels at a constant speed of 50 km/h towards station B.

Train 2 leaves station B and travels at a constant speed of 75 km/h towards station A.

A small fly takes flight from the front of train 1 and flies toward train 2 - always moving 5km/h faster than the train. When it reaches train 2, it turns around and flies back towards train 1, again moveing 5km/h faster than the train.

Where will the fly be when the 2 trains meet?

  • Why aren't there any TV specials or information about Sept. 11?

By September 11 I mean Sept 11 1973 when the enemies of freedom bombed and killed the leader of the Chilean government and murdered thousands of innocents.

Why no press or information or worldwide hunt for those responsible?
