yes without problem we are only talking less than 1" difference in width

But if stock is 205 then i would stick with them

    MY classic 220 Sb was fitted Originally with 5" or 5.6" x 13 which = 127 x 13" or 142.24 x 13

i Now Run 195 75 r 14 and the ride is better braking is better and Road Holding is Unbelievable

so if you go down to 185 just remember less Rubber on the Road

I am Not a Tyre expert or in the Trade i Just ride Drive classic cars and Motorcycles after rebuilding them and I read up about tyres for Both cars and Bikes before fitting them

By 1957 AJS has a 410 on the Back origional was a .3.75" and the Front was 3.25" Now 3.75"

    better road Holding and handeling

and remember to Throw away any tyre Older than 6 years Ford and GH in owners hand book Give this warning in all their new vehicles

    Irvin,

Many in the industry suggest going narrower when considering snow tires.

A narrower tire can more easily cut through the snow, a wider tire literally has to plow through the snow. You'd be better off finding a tire with a 195 width, but the 185's would work. Please realize your Mustang is definitely going to handle a bit differently. Be careful.

    Fit? Sure.

    Work?

    Absolutely not.

Traction and load carrying capacity are greatly reduced which would make them unsafe. No reputable tire shop would mount them for you.
