2004 Sebring LXI; Check Engine Light is on, transmission is not wanting to shift?

This is a strange problem. On Friday, I started up the car just fine, drove about 2 miles, and stopped for just a moment (less than 10 minutes). Came out, started up the car, started to drive away, and as I was accelerating, the car started to buck...basically what you see when someone driving a stick shift is having trouble shifting properly. Along with this the check engine light came on. I was able to get the car home; no overheating, it didn't die, and I didn't smell anything burning, and there was no smoke coming from under the hood. We checked all the fluid levels (the car just had an oil change 500 miles ago, and I only drive it maybe 20 miles a day), and everything was fine. Earlier last week, I was driving it to work, and it jerked so hard I thought I had been rear-ended, and the CEL came on. It still drove the rest of the way just fine, and made it home later that day with no issues; no overheating, no smoke, nothing. The code on the computer read as "undetermined". Any clue what it might be?

Update:

We originally took it to Autozone...they were the ones who said they couldn't determine what the code was saying (I wish I had asked for the numbers now). They reset it, and it was fine for a couple of days...this only happens if you drive it at highway speed for a couple of miles, stop for a bit, and then drive again. We are taking it back to Autozone on Monday, and have them read the codes.

Update 2:

As requested by someone below...it's a 2.7 v.6. It was taken to the shop today, but before that we tested it a little...same thing, drove it for about 5-10 minutes, ran great, parked in the driveway, shut it off for about 5 minutes started back up...started bucking after a minute or two.

The first thing needed is the engine option, (this vehicle was available with 4 different engines in 6 different configurations) 2.4L SOHC 4 cylinder or the 2.4L DOHC or the 2.7L DOHC V-6 or the 3.0L SOHC? The bucking sounds like a failing CMP (camshaft position sensor)

ADDED: If Auto Zone turned the light off, then they broke the law, It is a Federal law that if your company does NOT repair vehicles they are not allowed to turn off the light (they are only allowed to retrieve the codes) when the light is "cleared" all of the valuable "Freeze Frame" information is lost as this is some of the information that a Technician uses when diagnosing a vehicle!

Could be a lot of things. TCM could be bad, a solenoid could be bad on the transmission, or a whole lost of other things. You need to get the code read to find out what the problem is. Take it to AutoZone or wherever else you can get the code read for free.

You may have a shorted speed sensor.

IS SHORTED BY THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID.

IF you have P0700 code .

The transmission defaults to "safe mode", Locking into second gear.
