Psych ward... Should i go?

So today i threatened to hurt my ex. I stole my dads car and went over to her house. I was pissed. And everytime i get pissed i seriously want to hurt someone if not kill them. Sometimes ill punch random things like walls, and i have a ton of scars and i just got over a broken hand 2 weeks ago. Idk if i should go to a mental hospital tonight or go to a counselor instead. I dont know what to do and its stressing me out more. I feel like being in a place away from everyone i know will help, but idk if thats just a dream picture of the psych ward or what. ive cut before but its not a daily thing, its just a thing that i get overemotional and have an urge to hurt someone. Usually its someone else i want to hurt but mostly ill just result in hurting myself. Idk if this means i should go to a counselor or check into a ward. It seems to be getting worse. I just have no idea what to do.

You get checked into a psych ward, they strip search you, you get put in your room.. you attend groups or stay in your room all day.. they watch you shower... more groups or boredemn in your room... then you leave... that's what a psych ward is, if you feel thats for you then go for it.... it doesn't fix the underlying issue though of what is causing the feelings you're having...

There's a disorder called IED or intermittent explosive Disorder... characterized by frequent explosions of anger resulting in some sort of damage to yourself or other people... they categorize it as a pathological disorder along with others such as kleptomania, pyromania, etc. under impulse control disorders.

A therapist you can work with, will likely work with you both on the surface and underneath.. basically fixing it from the outside and the inside... what external stimuli is causing you to react this way, vs. what internally is causing you to not express your anger effectively, or rather what is preventing you from venting it properly. A friend of mine had this and pretty much felt the same way you do, and he hasn't hurt anyone or himself in over 2 years. The best result is to go talk to a therapist and explore what I just said to you. Odds are, going to a hospital will just make you much much worse...

Hope this helps, I'd love to hear back from you if you would like to... if so message me back or email me draco924@aol.com.. thank you for your time :)

It depends on the severity of the situation. If you don't feel you have the time to go through the process of getting a counselor, go to the hospital. You sound like you are sort of desperate and are having severe anger issues, so I would recommend it.

They can help you if you want them to. For some, they are a nightmare. Others don't ever want to leave. If anything else, they are good if you want to take a break from things for a while. Overall, I had... an okay experience there, I guess, but it had its worse moments. Again, it's all up to what you choose to learn from the experience. Best of luck with whatever you're dealing with.

Yes you should. You don't want to wind up in a small room with a roommate named Brutus.

No, you don't need to go to a psych ward Ronni. Send me an email, we'll talk about this and fix it for you. ^^
