Should I allow my prospective employer to check on my current employer?
I've gone through stage one of the interviews and I am filling out a lot of paperwork, it looks like they're going to be checking everything about me and I'm ok with that.
The only problem I have is them checking with my current employer, not because I have anything to hide... but because I could lose my job, my boss is unpredictable and unfair and I would hate to end up jobless. I am in a performance based job, with 2012 around the corner he'd fire me if he knew I was looking elsewhere.
Should I maybe attach a short letter explaining why I don't want them to contact my current employer?
Please advise thanks

It's a common request to not contact current employer. Yes let them know you would like to keep it discreet that you are seeking an upgrade in employment. Try not to say anything bad about your boss or speak negative about any job situation. However do stress it's important they do not contact. Some employers will insist so suggest that they act as a bank for a car or home loan. good luck

the only remark that an company could make is that in case you have been employed, how long you have been employed and in case you may or would not be rehired by utilizing that company. it extremely is often extra secure and smarter to offer your latest interest as a reference, because of the fact in case you do no longer; it extremely is going to look which you're the two mendacity or attempting to cover up something that the hot company needs to be attentive to. Many employers immediately have criminal get entry to to credit archives, and former or cutting-edge employment archives so which you will besides be trustworthy and up front. reliable success, i'm hoping you stumble on the perfect new employment for you.
