I cant get my ibook to connect to wifi PLEASE HELP!?

Question

my ibook is a 800MHz PowerPc G3 and it's not connecting to my wifi. I just got it and it's hooking up to my dad's wifi but not my mom's. I tried the whole go to the system preferences and network then it should say wifi but all it says is AirPort, Internal Modem, VPN (PPTP). I'm new to Mac and i have no idea what I'm doing. I called Apple already and they said to restart my router then my computer and I did and nothing yet has happened! PLEASE HELP ME!

What version of OS X are you running? If you mom's router is using WPA2 encryption then you're out of luck. If it's using WPA then you'll need a late enough version of OS X to connect. I can't remember which, but 10.4.11 is what you should be running anyway.

Unplug the router and modem wait 5 minutes plug the modem back in wait for all the lights to settle and for it to connect then plug router back in and wait for all lights to settle then power on the Mac and set up the wireless / WiFi connection.
