Also, my school requires that i take 2 semesters of a gym/ health class and 4 semesters of an art class. Sorry this is so long! thanks for your time! Happy Holidays! Also, i attend a reputable public school in MA. thanks!!!!

Note:

the beacon award which i received can only be given to a person once. It is a special award that my school does. Essentially, it is toughest to get i frosh year b/c the administration has to notice you, which a lot of the time they dont. However, i have very good relationships with my administration. Also, my demographic is white female.

Additionally, if you yourself has any experience with these schools feel free to share!

another thing i forgot to mention is that i am running the American idol contest at my high school, the hypnotist, and i am prom committee, which may sound dumb but they are very, very time consuming. They are all student govt related. I am also in latin club.

The highest grade at my school is an A. There are NO A+'s.

Update:

@J i was thinking public policy

Update 2:

@katie my school only goes up to 4.0, (almost no two schools have the same grading system) so it is mathematically impossibly for me to get a 4.3. also, most schools do it based on a 4.0 scale b/c when colleges standardize the GPA of a student they do it out of 4.0

shouldnt your gpa be better if you got so many A's and AP/honors classes.

i'm a junior in high school too and the highest GPA you can get is a 5.0 since AP classes are work 5 and Honors is worth 4.5. Academic is work 4.25 while standard (below level) is work 4.0

Your school must be realllllyyy weird because your GPA and your grades just dont mix up right......i think you dont have a good chance at any school like duke if you have anything under a 4.3 GPA. your SAT is good though

You have great extracurriculars and your grades are good as well. You take challenging courses and the grades for these courses look pretty good across the board. Your GPA may go up with the AP's you're taking, which should help. As long as you can write good essays and supplements when applying next year, you should have a decent shot at a lot of these schools.

With all that being said, you should apply early action or decision if you really know where you want to go. It seems like you love Duke, and you would have a way better chance of getting in if you decide to apply early. Don't apply early to a school if you aren't sure that you want to go there. Try not to worry so much about the specifics--you seem like a well-rounded student, and a lot of colleges will see that from your application. If you don't get into the top choice, you have a good shot at a lot of the other schools on that list, like I said. Now it is just up to where you like best.

    Good luck!

    1. DUKE - reach

    2. vanderbilt - reach

    3. wake forest - match

    4. uva - match

    5. emory - mid reach

    6. northwestern - reach

    7. boston college - match

    8. clemson - match

    9. unc-ch - match

    10. jmu - match

While I put "reach" on a few of these, I still think you stand a good chance. If you can write essays that really capture your interests and personality, and bring your application to a coherent whole, I'd say you have a good chance! Some people may say your scores are sub-par, but they are only one part of the application and I still think you got a very good score! If you can get a 2100, I'd say your chances at all those schools would go up significantly, but you have a chance right now as is, especially with your GPA and ECS.

    Best of luck!

I think you have a great setting for you to get into Duke. I wish you luck.

I think you have a very high chance at all the schools you listed. I have no experience with any of these schools. You should look on the website for Duke to give you more of an idea of what they expect. :-)

Just curious but did you want to major in at Duke?

Vanderbilt in Nashville correct? Well... My cousin received a full scholarship to Vanderbilt and she said it is the hardest thing she has ever been through. Vanderbilt would be my first choice; and you do have a chance at becoming accepted. I would try my hardest to reach for Vandy.

    GO COMMODORES!

Universities like Duke and Northwestern are tough ones, but with your potential, I'm confident that you can get accepted!

wow, your really smart. You shouldn't have a problem getting into these schools, and the fact that your doing something outside of school is even better.

    Good luck!
