The problem that you are having is caused by a "Redirect" Trojan which Hijacks the computer's Browser. Downloading and installing a new browser will NOT resolve the problem.

Redirect Trojans are often installed by a Rootkit which is a type of Malware that hides its presence from Anti Virus and Anti Spyware programs. Even typically powerful and effective programs such as Malwarebytes or AVG and etc will not work if a Rootkit is in place. Rootkits have the file extension "XOR". For example a picture has a JPG or a game program EXE; XOR applications are stealth programs that are hard if not impossible to detect without using a special Anti Rootkit removal program.

I will try to make the removal procedure as simple as possible. Notice, you may have to install some programs from a flash drive if the Trojan prevents your computer from connecting to security web sites.

#1. Start Computer in Safe Mode then open Browser. Download Sophos' Free Anti Rootkit Tool. Go to the link below:

    http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/so...

    Download > Install > Run

When this program has completed. Restart your computer.

#2. Sophos is VERY effective at removing rootkits but NOT at removing viruses and other malware. Rootkits HIDE Viruses too. You must now run Anti Virus and Anti Spyware. Do not be tempted to use only one program. RUN BOTH. Instead of using your Installed AV-use an Online Scanner as your AV will probably need to be updated. This is only a temporary step. Use your AV as usual after this rescue operation. Go to the link below:

    http://www.eset.eu/eset-online-scanner

Click the Green Eset Scan Button and FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS. They are simple and presented step by step. Accept the request to install an ActiveX program. It WILL NOT harm your computer but Windows by default with put up a security warning window when it attempts to install.

Scan time will depend on how Big and Full your hard drive is. It may take as few as 45 minutes to over a 3 hours. Let it do it's thing....Restart when prompted.

#3. As a Follow up. Run Malwarebytes' Free Program to check for any undetected spyware. If you do not have this program go to the link below:

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/products

Select the Free Edition. Download > Install > Update > Run

Based on the thoroughness of Eset this scan be Clear or find just one or two minor malware programs/cookies or adware. If it does...Delete--Restart Computer.

The computer should now be free of malware, viruses and rootkits at the end of the process.

    Good Luck.

Download a new version of your browser, IE8, Firefox, Chrome etc. (if you can, don't worry if you can't all Windows versions have I.E.) but don't install it yet.

The key words here are SAFE MODE!!!

Download, (if you can't get on-line, have a friend download and copy to disc/flash for transfer) install, update and then in SAFE MODE* run full scans with these programs...

    http://www.superantispyware.com/

    http://download.cnet.com/Ad-Aware-Free-Internet-Se... Ad-Aware free

*** Important, when downloaded/installed/updated disconnect from the internet ***

    Then re-start.

If you can't run a scan, go into the scanner's folder and re-name the .exe file to something like 'MyFile.exe' and try in safe mode again. Some malware prevent the execution of anti spy/mal/virus scans by blocking them by name.

    Reinstall your browser.

Try running a couple of on-line scans to be sure...

    http://go.eset.com/us/online-scanner

    http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/solutions/a...

You should consider getting a good Anti-Virus program.

Try one of these free ones...

    http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-%E2%80%A6

    http://www.free-av.com/en/download/1/avi%E2%80%A6 (Avria)

    http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Editi...

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/product... (MSE)

***Never use more than one, active, anti-virus program at any one time***

*Note: On start up (before Windows loads) keep tapping either F5 or F8 (be aware that some manufacturers use F8 for system recovery!) then use arrow keys to highlight 'Safe Mode with networking' and hit Enter/Return, click on a user account, enter the Administrator password (if you don't know it, there probably isn't one so leave it blank) and hit Enter/Return.

**Note: Malwarebytes should be run in 'Normal Mode' unless that isn't possible!
