Why is there a Union jack on the freaking Saskatchewan Legislative building?

I would just like to know why is there a freaking union jack, British flag flying above this legislative building? why is this? and should it be done, what happened to Canadian patriotism? I have no issues with having this shared queen and heck there's even a statue of her right outside the building but cmon the Union jack is a little bit to much don't you think?

Are you new to Canada, or what?

Because it'd be too shameful to think that a born-and-raised Canadian actually doesn't know that the Union Jack was once Canada's national flag; that it symbolizes Canada's membership in the Commonwealth of Nations; and that true Canadian patriotism includes the flags and heraldic symbols of Canada's proud past.

One look at Canada's Provincial & Territorial flags is proof of that - http://img.inkfrog.com/pix/wildman55/Oct_18-07_Can...

Makes my stomach churn just thinking that Canada - the internationally-recognized world leader in educational attainment - could possibly have any citizens ignorant of such basic facts.
