Absolutely. The health aspect incorporated in Tai Chi follows very strict to breathing exercises being done in the morning. If done right, for that reason alone, it's an excellent way to lead the day. In the martial art world, obviously, everything you do you want or has already martial application. Even with Qigong, sitting still and in one spot, you should always keep thinking about defending yourself from that position.

I've experimented with different breathing exercises here and there. Different times where I had gotten sick or started to with the flu, cold, or even sinus drainage's, I've noticed these things are sped up drastically or prevent entirely when I do certain meditations (Qigong) specifically in the morning. There are also breathing exercises specifically for the night, too, FYI.

The mental exertion to actually perform Taijiquan's movements in early morning is also good training. The slow and fluid motions can be strenuous on the mind in the middle of the day. You want to say "Screw it. Go fast. Hurry... I wanna do something else." First thing in the morning, that's amplified even more. It's good training.

It is great. I do the Eight Piece Brocades Chi Kung nearly every morning. It takes about 10 minuets.

Some mornings I will skip doing 8 repetitions of each move and only do 4. I also never start the day without at least a couple minuets of Chi berating and meditation. I usually do it as I get out of bed. I will stop and sit there on the edge of the bed and breath while meditating. I started the breathing and meditation years before the Eight Piece Brocade.

As you age you lose more and more oxygen in the blood in the brain as you sleep. Breathing exercise brings the blood stream back up to %100 quickly. My mind is clear wide awake and sharp before I leave the bedroom even on the holidays ;)

Wow lots of really great questions lately OC. Are you writing a book. If so give some credit to some of the great answers on here.LOL

Yea OK I drink a lot less now also.

No. you may first prepare your self until now working in the direction of tai chi chuan. learn chi gong first. Then, once you adventure the ability bypass, do you need to learn tai chi. 20 minutes of chi gong is a lot.

Taijiquan is good for any time of day. Its just practiced in the mornings so people can move on with whatever they have planned for the day.

Like any other MA we fit practice into our schedules whenever we can.
