Free cable tv channels?
So i connected the cable that's connected to our internet modem to the back of my tv today, and i got faint channel signals. Like Cartoon Network and Nick popped up but its grey and bearly visible. Any idea how to make it work?

Yes. Pay for a cable TV subscription and they will remove the filters that make the signal weak. Otherwise, it's theft of service.

What you probably have is RF leakage ("ingress") picked up from another point along the cable. If it is faint I'll guess you are seeing old fashioned analog channels still used by some of the cable operators.
You could put in an RF TV amplifier and that might pull in an extra channel or two. I doubt that is illegal as long as you don't make any illegal connections or use illegal electronic boxes.
Another option would be put up an antenna, get a ROKU box, subscribe to Netflix, i.e. become a real cordcutter and get all your video entertainment for cheap or free.

That relies upon on the cable corporation. Many cable businesses have switched over their gadget to digital to decrease down on cable robbery. In those situations, you should use a container from the cable corporation.

You could always just watch online cheaply and legally with something like livetv4me. It does act up sometimes but for the most part it works : http://www.womanreviews.com/livetv4me-review/
