Electrical help please how do you calculate transfer load?

You are to size a transformer for a load of 45 amps at 480 volts, single phase, 2 wire, what size transformer is needed and how do you calculate it thank you?

    Transformer apparent power A is just the product V*I , so :

    A = V*I = 45*480 = 21,600 VA (21.6 kVA)

    Transformers are rated in volt amps. If the maximum load will be 45 amps, then you need a transformer rated for a minimum of 21.6 KVA. It would be better to use one with a higher rating for longer life.
