if you wash something with alcohol, do you have to rinse the item with water before drying?

The best way to use alcohol is to put your item over a piece of old fabric you don't mind discarding. Apply alcohol to a clean dry rag then use that to blot the stain. If the alcohol is working, you will see the stain being picked up on your alcohol rag - and some of the stain soaking through to the fabric beneath. Keep at it until your stain is lifted. Wash the item as usual.
