My 9 month old puppy has several absesses all over her body...? please help.?

About a week ago...my Maltese-Pomeranian mix puppy had infected eyes...I took her to the vet and she was given eye drops and an antibiotic. The next day, she had an absess under her ear, took her back to the vet and they lanced it. She wasn't eating, drinking or walking. She would just flop over. Then she got another absess on her back a couple of days ago that popped on it's own and now there is an open sore on her back...then today we noticed another on her hip . Her female parts are swollen and I think she was in heat. I wanted to take her to an animal hospital but there isn't one very close by and money is tight due to the holidays...she is almost done with her antibiotic...she IS walking now and acting very happy and waging her tail, etc as if she's getting better, but these absesses keep appearing, opening and oozing...PLEASE HELP? Has anyone ever heard of anything like this and is it fatal? I'm stressed!

Call the vet who gave her the antibiotic. Since this vet saw her already, you have a right to call if she's not doing better.

ASK the vet if you should get a refill on the antibiotic, and if there's a medicine you can put on the other open sores. Many prescription medications for dogs can be called into your local pharmacy and they charge less than vets do. Vets CAN call in prescriptions to pharmacies. I just learned this in the last two years.

For tonight, if you have triple antibiotic ointment (which is non-prescription) you can try that after washing each sore spot off with a gentle soap first and rinsing it well. You can also put medicated powder (like Mexana) on it as well. Call the vet tomorrow. -!-
