Why does christmas seem to mean less each year?

Each year that passes, the Holiday seems to get farther and farther from it's true meaning.

Beacause it becomes more materialistic. People want more things and forget the true meaning of Christmas. Kids don't go to church because they think its boring so all they want on christmas is the new xbox game or that new cell phone. They don't stop to think about the religious aspects or about spending time with family.

I know exactly what you mean and i feel the same thing which gets me really depressed! One of the reasons is because people can't afford all of the stuff needed but the main reason is that people forget why we celebrate Christmas. It's to celebrate the birth of Jesus. If you know that and Christmas will be happy all year long. People think it's only about the presents ( im not pointing anyone out, just in general).

I've been thinking about that too. When I look at some shows and commercials, I was beginning to think that Christmas is becoming more materialistic. Maybe since this is the Modern era, people have been making more and more "presents". Even if some shows say that Christmas is about sharing, it isn't. Like Easter, it's to celebrate something to Jesus, like his birthday. Have you ever wonder that to Easter too?

because more and more organisations are trying to get money around christmas, and they succeed you ask people what their fav part of christmas it would be either the holiday's or presents Nobody cares about the true meaning any more
