Is Erdogan of Turkey right to raise the issue of Algerian Genocide against France?
The issue is not to deny or not any Genocide in the world . Is France is using Armenian Genocide to prevent Turkey to be in European Union ? If we have to accept the issue of Armenian Genocide , consequently we have to accept Genocide of France in Algeria . What do you think ?

Merhaba (I'm assuming you're Turkish),
Yes, he is correct in mentioning this. It's a point we often ignore: every nation on Earth has committed atrocities, but I think it's silly to blame the people of today's generation for the mistakes of the past. Do we blame Germans for Hitler? no Do we blame Greeks for the massacres of antiquity? how about the Romans? or the Americans? (Native Americans were decimated)
I'm Greek, and you might be shocked to hear me say this: But as Christians in Western Europe butchered each other in Protestant vs. Catholic massacres (and there were countless wars), the Ottoman Empire actually permitted Christians and other religious sects with rights to their own courts, laws, languages, customs. My ancestors practiced their religion freely under the Ottomans, while violent conflicts shaped the modern Western Euro nations. Yes, I know my history. The Ottoman Empire was (in some ways) way ahead of its time.
As for Armenia, tragedies happen in war. Sadly, Turkey, Greece, and Armenia have historically clashed. I had ancestors who died in the War of Independence fighting Turkey. Does this mean I hate Turkey? Absolutely not. Most Turks are extremely friendly people, as anyone who has ever been to Turkey can tell you.
As for Erdogan, I have a lot of respect for him. He's openly Muslim, yes, but he's given more religious freedom to Christians in Turkey than the Kemalists did.
So a long answer... but yes, he's completely right to bring this up. But the Armenian massacre should be recognized as well... it is not a reflection on Turkey, but a reflection on the army then and there when it happened. This is my personal opinion.

Turkey's attack on the Armenians was a horrendous massive slaughter. The French thing in Algeria was just a little squabble. Regardless, Algeria has nothing to do with the Turkish genocide of the Armenians.
