Questions about items being brought on an airplane?

I'm a little unsure of some things... first off can I bring nail polish? It's a 0.45oz/13.3 mL bottle.

Second, I brought my laptop down (stuffed it in my suitcase). Well this time I want to carry it on so more things will fit into my suitcase. I know we are only allowed ONE carry on and ONE suitcase under 50lbs. My question is, if I carry my laptop & purse on will that count that as two carry-on items, or just one? If they are going to count it as two, I'm just going to stuff my purse into my laptop.

If you have any additional information that might be useful, please let me know. I'll be flying out of Miami airport (God help me-lol).

Update:

I'm flying with America Airlines.

For carry on you are allowed to bring one single quart size resealable plastic bag filled with bottles of liquid each no bigger than 3.4 oz/100 ml, therefore your nail polish is allowed.

No, you cannot bring ONE carry on >and< ONE suitcase under 50 lbs. Each paid passenger is only allowed ONE carry on luggage that fits into the overhead bin, it can be a suitcase or roller board etc., check your airline's website to find out exactly the weight and dimensions allowed. On top of ONE carry on you're allowed ONE personal item that fits underneath the seat, this can be a purse, laptop bag, small backpack etc. In order to count as one you need to stuff your purse into the laptop.

Please tell us the airline you travel with and the class you fly in. Each may have different baggage provisions. You can take your nail polish as carry-on in a 1 quart size plastic zip-top bag.
