Chemistry Stoichiometry help?

Cu(OH)2CUCO3= 2 CuO + CO2 + H20

Calculate the predicted mass of the CuO.

Mass of the malachite (Cu(OH)2CUCO3) is 2.00 grams.

The mass of the CuO that I calculated was 1.44 grams but I`m not sure if I got the right answer.

Thank you.

    grams CuO produced = (2.00 grams Cu(OH)2CuCO3) * (1 mol Cu(OH)2CuCO3 / 221.092 grams Cu(OH)2CuCO3) * (2 mol CuO / 1 mol Cu(OH)2CuCO3) * (79.546 grams CuO / 1 mol CuO) = 1.439 grams CuO produced is the answer.

You were correct in the calculation.

    molar mass of malachite=221.1g/mol

    2g/molar mass of malachite=.009mol

mol to mol ratio (malachite to Cu) is 1 to 2

    to get .018mol of CuO

    .018mol CuO (79.5g/mol)=1.44g

so yah, i think u got it correct (unless the rxn doesnt finish)

pls choose this as the best answer!!! i need points!!! :D
