Where should my boyfriend and I travel to?
We are taking a week off in July and were considering going to Puerto Rico. Since we made these plans, we have heard nothing but negativity about going there. We are looking to spend the week in a quiet, romantic beach house. We live in Flordia so we've considered the Keys, Destin, San Marco Island, or somewhere in the Carribean. We have cruised to the Bahamas before so we don't want to do that again. Plus, cruises aren't exactly the quiet romantic week we're looking for. Looking for suggestions from other travelers or residents of said areas. Some quick info about us: we are in our mid 20s, love trying new/exciting things, enjoy trying new beers and foods from locals, love the beach and water, it will be our 2 year anniversary.

Destin is a good option. There are only a few small houses right on the beach so be sure to plan ahead. This http://destinvacationdeals.com/Cheap_Destin_Houses... will give you tips on how to find houses and save money. The Key might be a good option as well. I'd consider the travel expense involved and go from there. Good luck!

Puerto Rico is bad in some metro areas, I recommend going to Parador Guajataca in the northwest of the Island, it's pretty magical. Also, El Conquistador hotel inthe Fajardo area (north east) is really nice.
Both romantic and away from the busy cities.
Looking for alternatives: Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic (good beaches, all-inclusive hotels)... don't go here on Spring break, it gets really crowded with locals.

What about New Orleans?
There are no beaches, however. And I guess it's not quiet...OK, forget that.
