    I would say the mental illness of religious belief is considered normal.

    we live in a fallen world where satan is the prince of this fallen world. we are all born into this world dead in our sins dead spiritualy seperated from the life of God. but when we come to God through faith in Jesus we are made alive together with Christ alive spiritualy. now you can understand what the bible means. the bible to the natural man sounds foolish to him because it is a spiritual book because God is spirit. what does a spirit look like we do not have a clue.
