Do some dentist lie or scam to patient so that they could get money?
i went to a family insurance dentistry today(which had crappy services, and discomfort). i was there to check up with my teeth for free b/c i had health insurance(works for certain dentistry). they took x-ray which they shoved that plastic thing in my mouth, what i thought it was disgusting, b/c they never showed me or told me it was cleaned. then later, dentist came in and said "...decay, ... decay, ... decay, ...decay, ..." and left without explaining anything. i could tell this doctor is so careless, no proof where the dentist graduate from, nor greeting the patient. later on, women came in and said i had 10 cavities(shocking) and said i need a filling.
she said the insurance only covers the ugly color fillings, and not the white filling. i could tell by her voice that she wants me to do the white color filling to make profit. they were $100 each i think. my mom was there, who couldn't speak english well. the women told me to say "tell your mom, that insurance covers only this(metal(?) filling) and not the white color filling, and blah blah blah..." what i told my mom was that "she is trying to sell something not needed, and this could be scam," in another language "tell her we will think about it."
first of all, how could i have 10 cavities?
1)i had check from other dentistry i usually go to, had found only 1 little cavities and i was told that i was keeping my teeth in good condition. (checked up for 3 years i believe)
2)I DONT EAT CANDIES!!!
3)i brush my teeth(twice a day, 3minutes) , floss(once) , and the mouth wash(right after brushing, flossing)
4)when i was offer to drink soft drink, i choose water mostly.
5)i am in highschool, i dont do drugs, i dont drink.
6)I dont drink coffees.
7)i dont eat lot of sugar products.
So my question is, how i get this 10 cavities in a short amount of time (less then 1 month)?
Do you think these people lie so that they could get money out from me?
*I went to this dentistry b/c my mom told me that this free check up expires this year. my first time went to this dentistry*
Please answer it precisely...
10 cavities= 10 fillings= $1,000+
@Brian H: sorry for not clearing things up i was in a rush. i didnt had a check up for a month, i been to the same dentist over 3 years who checks every details. but one i went yesterday, she checked less then 3 minutes and walks off, when the other place they checked about 10 minutes (big dentistry, many doctors but i go to the same doctor). Also, there is no way that he missed it who checks about 10 minutes comparing to the yesterday's dentist who checked carelessly. you decide.

There is not always a clear line on what is a cavity that needs treated and what is the beginnings of a cavity. Dentists are very different in their aggressiveness in diagnosing cavities. I have one dentist in the town I am in who is extremely heavy and unethical in his diagnosis. Most dentists are not this way. Your past dentist before this guy may have been less aggressive or may have even missed something. I couldn't understand how long it had been since your last dentist visit (3 years or 1 month?) You definitely can't get much progression in a cavity in 1 month, especially with your good habits described above. My advice to you is that if it doesn't feel right, don't accept the dentists full treatment. You can speak with him and see which cavities he feels are most important to fill at this time and have him describe why. The best thing to do is get a second opinion. Get your radiographs (xrays) and treatment plan from this dentist and take it to another. Both you and the dentist own the radiographs together and he needs to provide you a copy for free or a reasonable fee (probably $10 or less). I typically give free second opinions when patients ask. I understand that patients will then come to me with their business because they feel they can trust me more than the last guy. Get a recommendation for a dentist and see if he will do this for you. Good luck.

Yes, you can absolutely sue them. As long as you get a good attorney, you can do it. You have really good reasons too, and maybe your dentist isn't just worth it. Sue him so him does not try to screw someone over like that again. He is scamming you for money, you are absolutely right about this.

Consult another dentist with e same level of expertise. The truth of consultation is worth e price afterall.

Dentists mendacity to sufferers? that doesn't sound suited! it could be any incorrect way around! merely kidding! mendacity is incorrect and is considered a "sin" to the Christians. i'm a Christian and that i rather have faith that mendacity is incorrect! the fact might desire to constantly learn no count what the outcomes or the curcumstances would be!
