There will always be a place for Facebook.

What will be interesting is the response from the I.P.O for Facebook. It has been reported that this will be the largest issue of shares in a new entity for some time.

People must believe there is some value in the business model to want to purchase shares.

The interesting thing about Facebook, is that the business arena have cottoned onto Facebook as a good media to advertise, and clearly get a good response.

The individual probably still uses Facebook, as there are those who lock themselves away, and communicate using Facebook, and seem to get some sort of 'Buzz' because they have more friends than others.

But I guess Facebook is a tool in our lives these days, and it depends on how you use the tool, as to what benefits you get.

So, I don't see Facebook model disappearing.

No, not every business has a peak and then a fall. We have yet to see a fall for Microsoft. IBM has been a major corporation for many decades. There are many other examples.

That said, I doubt that Facebook is merely a fad. It has substantially changed social networking over the internet, and may be nearly as revolutionary as early bulletin boards (which evolved into forums, then eventually into Facebook). It's unlikely to go away, though Facebook may lose its dominance in this area as the medium evolves.

Given that the young generation is actually more likely to send a Facebook message than an email, and businesses are having to learn to use Facebook effectively, it's unlikely their dominance will end in the next 5 years.

MySpace wouldn't have died if it didn't turn into a clusterfvck of everything that is media.

Facebook became the replacement because of its straightforward functions and specific goal in mind. It was a social communications sight, nothing more nothing less. It'll be a long time before facebook receives a good competitor.

Tweeter stood a chance, however it's become more of a public instant messenger than an actual social gathering of friends and people you know. Together Tweeter and Facebook make a good match will be extremely difficult to replace.

The scary thing about Facebook is its ability to evolve. With so many companies investing in it, most of them being in the social media world, any new product will quickly be found on Facebook. Facebook carries the capacity to be greater by adapting to what people want.

The downfall of facebook will be a social one, not a technological one. However, at the rate the younger generations are heading downhill with their morals and standards, don't expect them to realize that Facebook is actually a cancer destroying the true definition of social interaction.

relies upon on what comes out here quickly. Myspace was the element then got here alongside facebook and it trumped myspace now the only people who use myspace are human beings purely desirous to get laid. i understand google has come out with their new social media element, which is going to bomb I already understand. facebook will face up to that. yet I see facebook being in use for atleast 5 extra years. except some thing incredibly huge occurs it would purely be around for a on a similar time as.

I believe it will die down when everyone realizes that it's time to start actually living their lives, not keeping a distance and wishing people that they don't know a happy birthday. Or maybe it'll die down when the next best thing comes out. Isn't that always the way?

I think it's already peaked. My college-age kids hardly use it any more.
