How to keep a lock of hair?

My Mom died, and we requested 2 locks of hair for my sister and I to keep. The funeral people said it was a common request, and afterwards gave us 2 ziplock baggies of hair loose inside - I expected them to be tied or something to stay together.

I plan on putting mine into a special locket with my Mom's photo, but don't want the hair 'loose'. I've heard most places have the hair dipped in something to keep it together, and some people dip the ends in wax or glue to keep them together. I don't want to mess this up - has anyone done this before, either with a deceased loved one or a child's first hair cut?

Sorry to hear about your lose btw.

But my dad died three months ago,and me and my sister did the same, we both had a lock of my dads hair, it was tied by a little tiny ribbon, and it was placed into a locket with a clear thing over the top. And a picture in the locket too.

    Answer mine please.. Thanks :)
