  • How to keep a lock of hair?

My Mom died, and we requested 2 locks of hair for my sister and I to keep. The funeral people said it was a common request, and afterwards gave us 2 ziplock baggies of hair loose inside - I expected them to be tied or something to stay together.

I plan on putting mine into a special locket with my Mom's photo, but don't want the hair 'loose'. I've heard most places have the hair dipped in something to keep it together, and some people dip the ends in wax or glue to keep them together. I don't want to mess this up - has anyone done this before, either with a deceased loved one or a child's first hair cut?

  • Will mousse or hairspray in my hair before appointment effect how colour highlights go in?

Whenever I've had my hair done (foil highlights/lowlights put in) I've always avoided using product in my hair that day, leaving me with unfortunate flat hair the day of my appointment. I've since been told that it doesn't matter if you have mousse and hairspray in your hair, that the hair dyes aren't effected by it, and I can go ahead and use product in my hair prior to my appointment.

Any stylists out there who can give me a definitive answer on this? Getting hair done on Friday after work, and would love to have decent hair at work that day, but don't want to mess with the colour process and shorten it's life or change how my hair 'takes' the colour.

    Thanks!
