Why can women go through something like childbirth, but then cry at a spider or scary movie?
Just a random guy question.

i cry at neither of those things. i actually rescued a wolf spider not too long ago--cute little guy. and i love horror movies.
as for childbirth, i will never go thru with that because i don't like children.

Well...I rescue spiders. Once even left a huge Daddy-Long-Legs spider hang out in my house all winter just so it wouldn't die if I put it outside.
I can't sit through scary movies, though, not even things like Jurassic Park (despite having read the book and knowing how things turned out, the visual images -- particularly the scene in the kitchen with the children -- were just too much). I think it's the adrenalin rush; fight or flight, and I just want to flee at that point.
I gave birth to two children. It's a little scary before you have the first one because you do not know what it's going to be like. For me, it was more like running a marathon. Yes, there was pain, but it was a working, productive type pain (such as using your muscles to lift weights). I experienced a "high", like a runner's high. I had little in the way of pain relievers for the first birth and none at all for the second. Some women have much more difficulty with childbirth; it's just that the end result (a child) is something they want, so they do it anyway.

Hey!hey!hey! i know guys who cry at the sight of a spider too...who doesn't get creeped out when they see something walking on more than two legs(not counting animals). there's a show on animal planet where this old guy was terrified of BIRDS! women are just a little more touchy, and guys get scared at horror movies too.
