Does Cristiano Ronaldo deserves to win this year's Ballon d'or...?

Cristiano definitely deserves to win it.....he just broke a record in La Liga ( 40 goals )...if he won it I'll be surprised that fifa once did something fair. He must win it...he really deserves it!!

How come CR was the better player than Messi?! Just because Real Madrid won the league? Real Madrid has got a far better squad than Barca and last year Barca struggled with injuries. Messi's performance improved in Argentina shirt while Ronaldo's penalty drama cost Portugal Euro. Most importantly Messi outscored Ronaldo everywhere and also look the number of assists they both had.

In truth Messi does genuinely deserve to win it this year considering his phenomenal trophy count throughout 2011.

However, if ronaldo did somehow miraculously claim the award which is unlikely...it would only be an act of justification to the fact that Messi won it undeservedly in 2010 when a player like wesley sneijder both inspirational and instrumental in his domestic club's and national team's heavy success was overlooked for even the final 3!

That was a disgrace.

For what???? For winning CdR??? Or for scoring 11 league goals (25% of all league goals ) in last games of the season when Barca was already the champion?? Or maybe for his 8 penalties from the start of this season??? Perhaps because he disappears in every single big game?? I don't get it why would CR deserve the award more than any other average player??? Just for example Higuain scored more goals from an open play in much shorter time than CR, there are many players who had better season than CR, just because he scores few hattricks against bottom table teams doesn't mean he deserves Ballon d'Or.

The real question is the same as last season.... who deserves it more Xavi or Messi???

LOL! It's an individual award, for best individual player.. If you think Sneijder deserved it, then you probably think Cannavaro deserved one in 2006, and then i really don't wanna say anything else..

And Ronaldo doesn't even come close to winning it this year, it's gonna be some distance once again between Messi (1st) and Ronaldo (2nd)

Both deserve to win. Ronaldo has helped Real Madrid to win the 2011 Copa Del Rey with his header at the extra time. Moreover, he helped Real Madrid in reaching the 2011 UEFA Champions League's semi final considering the fact that Real Madrid weren't able to even beat the 16 round since 2002. Furthermore, Ronaldo scored 41 goals in the 2011's La Liga making him the greatest top scorer in the history of the Spanish La Liga. As well as, he won the European Golden Boot for 2011 & clearly, his 2011 stats are better than Messi's. On the other hand, Messi has helped Barcelona in winning the 2011's UEFA Champions League, the 2011's Spanish La Liga, the 2011's FIFA Club World Cup, the 2011's European Super Cup & the 2011's Spanish Super Cup. Individually, Messi has won the European Player Of The Year Award Of 2011, the 2011's FIFA Club World Cup Best Player Award & The 2011's UEFA Champions League Top Goal Scorer. Obviously, Messi won the Balon d'ore last year because of the individual statistics beating Wesley Sneijder who deserved to win surely. So, this year Ronaldo's way better in his individual stats as he completely outscored Messi in 2011. I think both deserve the award, but I'd go with Ronaldo this time since his individual stats for 2011 are absolutely spectacular.

I think the Portuguese star deserves this years Ballon d'or it is was his second year in Madrid and he accomplished a lot for his team, plus he got the winner against Barcelona in Copa del Rey. The only reason that messi has led barca to more trophies is because he has the two top midfielders Ineista and Xavi with a lot of experience.

Messi didn't deserve it last year ? This award is for the best individual player of the year, and the best has won it and rightly so.

taking that into account, Messi has always deserved it since 2008, no Xavi,Sneijder, CR7 or Iniesta, he's simply better than all of them and he proves that year in year out.

Messi should be winning this award every year because he's by far the best in the world, no one is close to him, and if someone ever comes close to him, It certainly won't be Cristina.

Yes, he truly deserves it! Although he doesn't play good vs Barcelona which really gets on my nerves.. 2 more clasicos coming in January. Good luck to both teams.

id like to see xavi win cuz of his effort but its gonna be for messi once again. as for that stupid poll, many of the ppl that voted r id!ots that dont know ath about football, specially ronaldo fangirls. but in the real vote they'll be judged on their skills, etc.. and not on who scored more penalties XD
