Not really, despite some peoples statements such as

"I ride a harley ( A REAL BIKE ) nothing you would know about. so go ride your puney little bumble bee bike down the street and me and my friends will laugh at you. dont forget your training wheels :D"

Both yes and no and it's human nature. It's the whole us v. them thing, that started in the late 1940's. In the past and even into today. Motorcycle club patch holders, picked on any one who did not ride a Harley. This attitude was pick up by Harley (the company) and used to sell bikes. Soon almost every Harley rider, patch holder or not, was picking on non Harley riders. At the same time a new kind of bike was coming onto the market, in the form of the crotch rocket/sport bike. The Harley riders jumped in on the sport bike riders, but the sport bike riders didn't lay down like the others, they fought back. It's been going on now for, 30 years or so now.

Unless your a patch holder in a 1% club, or a support club, there is no real reason for it. Most Harley riders and non 1% clubs have out grown it. It's only the sport bike riders, who care now a days. Sooner or later they will grow up, then they will be picked on by the younger kids, who ride who knows what.

I'm with Andy, most bikers really care less what others ride. And while many cruiser riders would never want to ride a sport bike, most I know can still appreciate the speed, power and handling of sport bikes.

But as Andy said, there seems to be a small minority of sport bike riders here that are very closed minded. They feel there are two kinds of people; those that ride sport bikes and those who don't are idiots. Several years ago in Iowa I met 4 teenagers (2 boys, 2 girls) that were riding their scooters from Indiana to the Black Hills of south Dakota, at a top speed of 35 mph. There are many sport bike riders who wouldn't have the guts to do that on their 183 mph bikes. If you ask me, those kids are real bikers more so than the latter.

I'm in the sports bike class and have never hated a Harley or cruiser bike I like them but I like my sporty crouch rocket the best. Everyone who has a bike rides and there's a respect among all of us for the thing we all love to do. But if you like a Harley you like a Harley if you like a Ducati you like a Ducati no biker really cares.

Sport bikes are cooler looking and unless your 50 years old, have a beard, wear a leather jacket 24/7, and ride with other geezers, a sport bike is for you

Yes you are absolutely right. The criminal motorcycle gangs ride Harleys, it is their signature. Most cruiser owners try to imitate these gang members in appearance. Now some of these posers take the role so seriously that it causes friction between them and all authentic motorcyclists. Nobody likes to put up with an arrogant, obnoxious wannabe. As a whole motorcyclist have been a brotherhood but in the past few years it is becoming a split brotherhood due to the wannabe posers. On the highway almost all none Harley riders wave but on about 25% of Harley riders will wave. This is an example of the brotherhood split.

I don't hate crusier riders. I just think the bikes are lame. I think the noobs riding them have alot of fake attitude, like to dress up like costume shop bikers, and spend way too much money for low performance bikes, and I do hate getting behind a group of them when I'm in my old work truck and want to actually get somewhere at a decent speed, I do hate the unnecessary noise they are all so in love with.

I get a giant kick from people who are totally ignorant about bikes, think their harley is really all that because it has the most CC's. They are actually real life harley guys who believe their two wheeled tractors are the fastest bikes on the road. Used to be a ton of them here on Yanswers but they all faded away. Sad. It was fun to blast them with facts and watch them predictably come back with nothing but personal attacks.

I was never aware of any til i started reading posts on here. Here on Yahoo there seems to be.I don't really understand why though.Motorcycling has always been a brotherhood of people riding on two wheels. It shouldn't matter a damn what kind of bike you ride. There is a dedicated group on here that feel the need to insult others on their choice of ride though.I try to ignore them for the most part as i just consider them a bunch of twits.

Personally, i don't care what you ride as long as you ride. Anyone who has a "I hate guys who ride ..." is an idiot. As motorcycle riders we had better all stick together. There are plenty of government Safety Nazis who would love to see bikes legislated out of existence.

I like how some people here are associating Harley Davidson motorcycles with gangs. Maybe when Gangland updates, they'll find out about all the little sport bike criminal elements out there. Be that as it may, stereotyping a brand with criminal activity is the stupid reason for the split between H-D riders and others way back in the forty's. With stupid movies like the wild ones featuring a lead character who actually rides a Triumph, but nobody remembers that, and adds from honda telling the public that you'll meet the nicest people on a honda, insinuating that those of us who don't are the underbelly of society.

Like most hatred, this stems from stupidity and the cool factor some believe goes with following trends and believing urban legends.

Source(s): I like just about all bikes, but love only mine.
