Why do atheists get so upset with Christians in what is a Christian nation (U.S.)?

They are LESS THAN 2% of the population.

They seem to be the most illogical segment of the U.S. populace.

Why do atheists get so upset with Christians in what is a Christian nation (U.S.)?

---how upset is 'so upset' ?

---why should the US being a 'Christian nation' have something to do with it ? If someone is in the majority or is the founding father or whatever, does that null your right to get upset ? Are you in the absolute majority in every single group spectrum ? Are you sure ?

They are LESS THAN 2% of the population.

---source please. Especially since most lib Christians don't really believe in Creationism. Seems to me that, in a sense, they're actually atheists or at least too confused to be lumped in as 'Christians'. Hell, even No Chance Without Jesus will tell you that: Liberal Christians aren't really Christians. Also,I heard we were more like 7%. Our 7% + the Democrat's one half of 93% gives us 53.5%.

They seem to be the most illogical segment of the U.S. populace.

---yeah, but that's coming from the group that has almost representation in almost every logical fallacy known to man. You look up a list of fallacies and you can find a list that has like every single fallacy represented by theists. Eh. I suppose you could find such a list for atheists. By all means, go find it. Thrill me.

In any case, I'm pretty good at logic. Not to toot my own horn but I think it's true. And theists suck at logical arguments that show their 'God' exists. But that shouldn't be the case. If A, then B. A. therefore B. You can do it. But even then, you have to have a decent premise and you guys suck at supporting your premises too.

    Eh.

On the plus side, hey, at least you're not a Muslim.

Please stop calling the US a Christian nation. It is a religion-neutral nation--there is no official religion in the US.

The US is a nation where the majority of the population, *if asked their religious preference*, state that they prefer Christianity, whether or not they have any actual religious affiliation. In all likelihood, the majority of US citizens with an actual affiliation are in one Christian religion or other on that continuum of religious practices that come under the heading of "Christian," whether or not they practice the religion or just joined a church when they were 12 and have neglected to attend since. But that's the people, not the nation.

The correct description is "a nation where the majority of citizens profess Christianity." Got it?

To answer your question: I haven't noticed atheists in general getting upset with Christians in general, so I don't comprehend your question. I have noticed a lot of people, and not just atheists, getting upset with a few Christians who put forward their own personal biases and prejudices while invoking the name of Jesus--such as Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Michele Bachmann, and so on--but that's a different matter altogether from what you asked about.

Its not a christian tion though is it. The constitution is secular, its very clear that america's founding people meant it to eb secular country based on secuular laws to aviod religious persecution of one sect by anopther and also to allow erligious freedom and freedom from religion.

Also when the first europeans arrived in america it was already occupied, the first nation people of america were indians and they were not christian.

Basically the christians only got the land by decieving, stealing, killing and comitting genocide of the native america indians already there.

So you really have no right at all to be thinking that is good or any reason why america should be or is a chiristian nation now.

REally you american chrisitans should eb ashmaed of yourselves and held responsible for slavery, genocide and harm caused.

Read the Treaty of Tripoli 1797, focusing on Article 11. Then, and only then, can you talk to me about how the United States is a Christian Nation.

    History Fail.

Maybe you shouldn't be so judgmental... And actually atheists make up more than just 2% of the U.S population. And you wonder why we get so upset! It's because of people like you who ask stupid questions! And yes if you didnt catch that, I am atheist!

The US is a nation which was founded on FREEDOM OF RELIGION. That means that we have Christians, Jews, Pagans, Atheists and MANY other religions here. To say it is only CHRISTIAN is ignoring everyone else who are legally here and follows the beliefs which suit them. You show great disrespect to those of other beliefs. JESUS NEVER did that.

Show me the part of the constitution that says the U.S. is a Christian nation.

Is that why it was okay to enslave blacks? They were a minority?

And does that make it okay to abuse Christians in countries where Christians are a minority? Should Christians in, say, China or Libya simply shut up and stop asking to be treated humanely because they're minorities in those countries? Should they accept abuse and discrimination because that's what minorities are supposed to do?
